Key Stage 3 students received lovingly-crafted seasonal gifts pre-holidays as reward for a showcase of brilliant reading.
A set of Easter chicks, each containing a Cadbury’s Crème Egg, were hand-knitted from scratch by Mrs Narayanan’s mum for Middleton Technology School students.
A former librarian, she was keen that the gifts were gobbled up by our prolific readers, leading to the rewards in Library Lessons this week!
Students from Years 7 to 9 have been attending Library Lessons all year, once a fortnight as part of their English curriculum.
Over the past few weeks, each KS3 class has been turning as many pages as possible, spending their lessons reading through a series of high-concept shorter stories.
The response has been tremendous, with over 600 books read – including Accelerated Reader quizzes passed afterwards – in the last two weeks.
A fantastic achievement for all our Key Stage 3 students, with special treats and recognition for the readers in the attached photos.
A massive thank you to Mrs Narayanan’s mum for putting such a smile on our students’ faces, and an even bigger well done to our page-turning students!
