Middleton Technology School students across two year groups were given a crash course in military life throughout this fortnight.
A collection of eager Year 10 students spent Wednesday 5th October at Fulwood Barracks near Preston, displaying their teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills in a variety of team-building exercises set by ā amongst others ā the Royal Engineers, the Royal Artillery and the Navy.
The day at the barracks was designed to showcase the different areas of the Armed Forces in which STEM is employed, as well as allowing the 38 Middleton Technology School students the opportunity to sample the whole range of career opportunities in and around the defence sector.
Quite literally getting their hands dirty, our Year 10s also had the chance to try out some tactical combat gear used by trained infantry soldiers!
On Friday 7th, it was the Year 9sā turn to get an insight into the role of the Army, with a presentation detailing the careers involved in military life taking place in the hall.
A big thank you to the Manchester United Foundation for arranging the barracks visit, and a massive well done to all students involved, who impressed Army staff with their conduct, behaviour and teamwork.
