Middleton Technology School’s culinary creatives attended a mouth-watering Hospitality Industry Taster Day at Manchester College on Tuesday 10th May.

With the opportunity to watch live cooking demonstrations, as well as sample products only available to professional chefs, the event was an eye-opening experience for our Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students.

The twenty Middleton Technology School students watched a pasta-making tour-de-force from Doug Crampton, the Head Chef at James Martin’s Manchester restaurant, before having the chance to taste 3D-printed lamb koftas not yet available to the public!

Top industry professionals were on hand to answer any questions the students may have had, while an array of culinary delights, canapés and drinks were available throughout the day.

The highlight of the event saw two Middleton Technology School Year 10s competing in a chocolate éclair decorating competition against students from other schools.

A lovely experience for our students, who all came home with a host of insights into the world of hospitality and catering, as well as extremely full bellies!
