Elliot McDermott in Year 8 was crowned as Junior European Champion at a prestigious tournament in Wolverhampton.

Taking part in the +65 kilo category in his 12-13 age range, Elliot displayed flair, determination and a huge amount of resilience in winning four straight matches against his international competitors.

Representing hometown club Manchester Predators, the victory – and accompanying golden medals – were just reward for the continued dedication Elliot has shown to his sport.

He started at the boxing and MMA gym eight years ago, and currently trains four or five times a week.

Ever the competitor, Elliot is already talking about upping his training regime to six nights, ahead of another competition – this time in London – in a month’s time.

Everyone at Middleton Technology School is extremely proud of Elliot’s hard work and success, and look forward to hearing more about his exploits and journey through the world of mixed martial arts.
